When I first saw the new billet air filter from Team Gonads, a quote from my favorite Mike Myers character, Austin Powers, jumped into my head -"Yeah, baby! Yeah!"  The Billet Brothers, Mark and Ray Hull have produced yet another great looking product which is functional as well.

Anyone familiar with the use of a screwdriver and Allen wrench should be able to install this filter in less than ten minutes.

The complete filter kit retails for $59.99 (pre-filters retail for $8.99 and additional billet tops are available for $29.99)

The Team Gonads air filter kit includes a billet aluminum base with integral velocity stack, a 1/2" tall replaceable foam filter, a filter screen, and your choice of custom designed filter tops. They also throw in stainless steel, socket head hardware, and an Allen wrench for mounting the filter. The pictures in this review show the optional pre-filter, which is available in a variety of colors

Installation of the TGN filter is very straight forward and requires only a screwdriver, to remove the original air filter, and an Allen wrench to install the new filter. In case you do get lost during the installation, the filter kit also includes easy to follow instructions.

The TGN filter is shorter and much more durable than the popular "gauze" type filters like the K&N brand. This allows for increase in foot room which can be advantageous for freestyle riders and larger riders with big feet (like me!). Although the TGN billet filters have less surface area than comparable gauze type filters, this does not seem to affect performance in any way and seems to actually decrease intake noise.

TGN filters come in a natural aluminum, "machined" finish, but custom polishing is available for an additional charge. I was able to put a very nice polish on my filter in only a few minutes, using an old towel and my favorite metal polish.  The first picture below shows the "factory" factory finish, while all the rest of the pics in this review reflect my ten minute polishing job.
